Twelve Apostles, Catacol

Twelve Apostles, Catacol, Isle of Arran. This row of cottages was built to house the farmers who were "Cleared" to make way for deer. They were supposed to make their living by becoming fishermen but the Herring industry collapsed. Nearby Lochranza supported over 400 men in the fishing industry in the early 1900's despite only having a present-day population of around 200.
